Very exited today to share the first single of an acoustic covers record I recently made with a bunch of good friends. Ever since I went to Paz Lenchantin‘s new house, I fell in love with the idea of recording there. The acoustics in every room are so perfectly magical and we had all been making music together every night.
During limited time in between trips to Europe, I figured doing covers would be the easiest way to insure completing something special. Samur Khouja came and set up a mobile recording rig and captured the vibes.
All these songs I will be releasing over the next few weeks were recorded live with minimal overdubs and no click tracks. Just good friends celebrating sound together. Not really changing much about the original songs, more paying homage and recreating them in a new era with different voices.
This first tune is the most minimal recording ( just Scott Archdale & I singing and playing guitar together in a room ) with all natural reverb.
At the time, I had an Everly Brothers cassette tape in my on repeat, and was going through some heartbreak, so I really connected with the song “Bye Bye Love” 💔. I hope you give it a listen & I can’t wait to share the rest of the record ( which is more lush in frequency / instrumentation ) with you.
